uno ha risolto così:
Go to Device Manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, select the channel where the burners are located, right click, select Properties/Advanced and check that the drives(s) have not reverted to PIO MODE.

If they have, go back to Device Manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, right click the channel again and select "Uninstall", then APPLY/OK.

Now reboot the PC and Windows will automatically reinstall the IDE Controller and redetect & reinstall the drives. If there was a Windows glitch (known problem in XP) then this will flush it out.
sembra sia un problema di xp che fa casini, oppure un problema col controller.
